We know — this may feel like a lot. Videos, forms, reflection questions… it’s more than just a quick signup. But that’s intentional.

At CityLight, we believe church membership is a serious and sacred commitment. It’s not about jumping through hoops — it’s about making sure you understand who we are, what we believe, and what it means to walk together as the family of God.

This process is meant to serve you, not burden you. It’s designed to foster clarity, conviction, and connection. So take your time. Reflect deeply. And know that we’re praying for you every step of the way.

Welcome to CityLight

We’re so excited that you’re taking this next step with us. Church membership is more than filling out a form — it’s a commitment to follow Jesus together, to walk in community, and to partner in God’s mission here in Dayton.

This Membership Pathway will guide you through everything you need to know about what it means to be a member at CityLight. It’s designed to be clear, prayerful, and paced — not rushed.


📝 How it works

This is a 8-step process. Each step includes:

A short video or document

A form or confirmation to respond

A “Continue” button to unlock the next step

Please take the steps in order — each one builds on the last. You’ll receive a final invitation to a pastoral connection meeting before membership is affirmed.

  1. Discover CityLight 101: Our story, vision, and what it means to be part of this church.
  2. (45 min) Doctrinal Distinctives (CityLight 102): What we believe and why it matters. 
  3. (45 min) What is Church Membership? (CityLight 103): Why membership is biblical, meaningful, and missional.                   
  4. (20 min) Review Our Church Bylaws: How we’re governed and how decisions are made. 
  5. Discover CityLight 104: Connect in person, explore ways to serve, and prepare to commit
  6. (5 min) Affirm the Membership Covenant: A commitment to gospel-centered, unified life together.
  7. (30 min) Submit the Membership Application: Share your testimony, beliefs, and desire to join.
  8. Schedule Your Connection Meeting: A brief conversation with one of our leaders to hear your story.

The full pathway usually takes about 2-3 hours total

You can pause between steps, but each form must be completed in one sitting

After Step 7, we’ll contact you to set up your pastoral connection
